the history behind "the king is naked"


"The king is naked" was presented in the Moda Documenta, an event that is part of the Seminar and the International Congress of Memory Design and Fashion. Technical and scientific, the event presents research conducted by studants, teachers and professionals from art galleries, libraries and museological institutions, taking as a permanent research forum, conservation and memory related stylish and design. The Curitiban Heroina - Alexandre Linhares presented his 36th collection in Casa Hoffmann, on Friday, May 13, integrating the Moda Documenta. The presentation was restricted to the Moda Documenta audience.

The parade was narrated before the models entred on catwalk. Keiko comes back on the catwalk and cross pass with Veronica... 

Veronica was introduced to me this year by Keiko, and was one of the greatest meetings I had in 2016. Vero is Romanian, lives in Berlin and was going back today to her home; however, after my invitation to be part of this fashion parade, she delayed her trip for tomorrow. We got connected when sharing our skills: I taught her how to sew, and she taught Thifany and I how to sprout and ferment food. She went to our home and taught us to watch seeds the sprouting; how to ‘trick’ the seeds so they ‘think’ they are underground; how to save money germinating our own food and fermenting it because, according to her, everything can be fermented. As she passes Keiko, Vero smiled and kept smiling to the front of the catwalk, then she stopped in a cute look and shook her head in a shy and yummy gesture. Veronica is wearing a dress made of scrap lycra from a factory that Luan was working at; the scraps were amended by Thifany in our atelier during a month, totaling 29.94 m² of a 'new' factory. We have made 37 clothes from this new factory. While Thifany was amending the scraps, cutting and idealizing the clothes, she knew she is going to be "aunt and godmother" in less than a month. She had an epiphany about compassion when seeing a dog being hit, and all of that resulted in a urinary tract infection lasting for another month. When perceived as a reflection, emotions materialize in her body and, as a reflection of any action, they materialize in this dimension or in others- emotions do materialize and at any moment an object might be in our way. Once again, presenting a new collection allowed her to focus on the present, because what really matters is the process, and we always learn a lot during the process. The dress is black and blunted, it is alive, but does not swing. It is a block. Over the dress, a pink cover with Lupi's roses applied on, making a reference to a wrought, art nouveau iron gate, on the pink wool that shows black apexes from the lycra dress. The cover does not straighten in the body: it is on the body. The collar is free will, as well as the closing and the structure. Everything is alive. The openings for the hands and arms look like crevices, and this coat was made with no waste. None of our clothes resulted in waste, because all scraps were used, if not in a particular vesture, in another. However, for this cover, all the fabric I had in hands remained in the cover. Neither the armhole, the décolleté, nor the imperfection when sewing the sleeve were removed. Everything remained in this vesture. And just like she entered, Veronica leaves smiling, in her shoes like her skin.
